  • Beth El Cemetery (New Union Field): founded about 1864. 775 Jamaica Avenue, Ridgewood (Queens), New York 11208 (718) 366-3558. Directions: Triboro Bridge, Grand Central Parkway to exit 13.  Jackie Robinson Parkway towards Brooklyn.  Exit at Cypress Hills Street.  Turn right.  Beth El is the second cemetery down the hill on the left. No office exists at New Mt. Carmel (Mt. Carmel), Machpelah or Beth El. Records available from Salem Field cemetery office. Call before you go. Carolee Inskeep, "The Graveyard Shift" calls Beth-El Cemetery also "New Union Filelds Cemetery".Salem Fields (Temple EmanuEl). The first cemetery was in Brooklyn. The congregation gave up that site and opened here in 1852.

  • Knollwood Park: 57-80 Cooper Ave. at Cypress Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385-6095; 718-386-6700. founded 1947.
  • Linden Hill Cemetery: 52-22 Metropolitan Ave., Ridgewood, NY 11385-1209; 718-821-2279; Ahavath Chesed/Central Synagogue (212-838-5122). Founded by Congregation Ahavat Chesed/Central Synagogue about 1850.
  • Machpelah Cemetery: 82-30 Cypress Hills Street, Ridgewood, NY. 718-366-595.Office: 201 East Broadway, New York, NY  10002 , 212-477-2221. Founded 1800s. Records available at Manhattan central office for Acacia/Machpelah/Mokom Sholom can be retrieved by date of burial., but are poorly organized.  Harry Houdini is buried here.
  • Mount Judah Cemetery (Highland View): Cypress Ave., Ridgewood, NY; (212) 477-2221 & (718) 821-2279. Mailing address: P.O. Box 860177, Ridgewood, NY 11385; Highland View Cemetery Association. Also, a big sign on the corner reads "Highland View." Section #1 (opposite side of Cypress Avenue) and Section #2 (same side of Cypress Avenue as cemetery office). Searchable Interment Database.
