ShtetLink. [May 2010]
This is my ancestral village, which I have visited several times. I made the ShtetLink for it. The US Commission information below, but it is incorrect. The cemetery is NOT used for agriculture and adjacent properties are NOT agricultural. There is NO fence and NO gate. It seems, based upon the size of the cemetery mentioned, the information seems to be for another cemetery (perhaps in the next village down the highway). Poruba pod Vihorlatom is located in Michalovce, NW of Sobrance. The isolated flat urban location has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all via a fence and non-locking gate. Present size of the cemetery is 30x20 meters. 1-20 19th-20th century marble, granite, limestone, and sandstone flat shaped tombstones or finely smoothed and inscribed stones in original locations have Hebrew inscriptions. The cemetery is used for agriculture. Adjacent properties are agricultural. Private visitors visit occasionally. Vegetation was cleared. Now, individuals clean or clean occasionally. No threats.
