The B'nai Israel section with its 135 graves is a part of the city owned cemetery established in 1910. Plots were purchased in 1935 by the Fort Lauderdale Hebrew Congregation (Established 1931, now Temple Emanu-El, 3245 W. Oakland Pk. Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL.. This burial place for the pioneer residents of Ft. Lauderdale is a historic part of the Jewish experience in Florida. In 1998-99, the City of Fort Lauderdale made significant improvements to the site, including landscaping and perimeter wrought-iron fencing.
