city and commune in the Province of Asti in the Piedmont region about 45 km E of Turin and about 15 km NE of Asti on the national road SS 547 that links Asti to Casale Monferrato and Vercelli. Jews settled there after their expulsion from France. Moncalvo, like Asti and Fossano retained the old French ritual and still uses the German Maḥzor with several additions.
