Spring Hill Cemetery - B'nai Israel Section: In 1919, B'nai Israel Congregation purchased its own cemetery in the Spring Hill section (Orthodox consecrated ground). B'nai Israel Synagogue: Orthodox was established in 1910. Their first Temple was built in 1924 and located at 9th Avenue & 9th Street. This building was sold in the 1970's and is presently a church. A great ceremony took place when B'nai Israel merged with Ohev Sholom on October 13, 1978 resulting in B'nai Sholom Congregation. In 1987, a "100 Years Jewish Community Huntington, W.Va.", Centennial Anniversary book, was printed that includes the history, names of members, photographs and wonderful testimonies of congregants. UPDATE: There are several Jewish sections in this historic city cemetery. The sections belong to the B'nai Sholom Congregation. The original Ohev Sholom Section was established in 1888 and the original B'nai Israel Section was established in 1919.
