"One of America's Most Beautiful and New York's Largest Jewish Cemetery, est. 1928".Directions: For New Montefiore Cemetery "at Exit 35, Southern State Parkway, Wellwood Avenue, Pinelawn, L.I., New York". A printed note says, "on busy days Exit 36 North is often quicker." New Montefiore Cemetery seems to be bordered by Wellwood Avenue to the west, the Southern State Parkway to the south, "Straight Path Road" to the east, and Edison Avenue to the north. Exit 36N is where the Southern State Parkway and "Straight Path Road" intersect. There are two phone numbers: "New York City: (212)730-7676" and "Pinelawn, N.Y.: (631) 249-7000".
New Montefiore is almost next door to Wellwood, between Wellwood and the Southern State Parkway. New Montefiore Cemetery has an interesting wall/fence around, a stretch of masonry, then a short bit of vertical bars, then more masonry, offering a glimpse into the place as you drive past.
