Lindenwood Cemetery, Achduth Vashalom Congregation Section: 2324 W. Main St., Fort Wayne, IN 46808; 1-219-432-4542. Founded in 1848 as a Chevra Kaddisha, the cemetery dates back almost that far. Moved to its present site in the 1860's, Achduth Vashalom is medium-size but active Reform congregation of about 275 families. They maintain the cemetery and its records that may be computerized. Began as an Orthodox synagogue, they became one of the founding congregations of the Reform Movement. Many small Jewish cemeteries throughout this area are remnants of "once upon a time" Jewish communities. The county maintains them with a dozen or so Jewish graves in them. - Orthodox Cemetery: AKA Fort Wayne Jewish Cemetery. Located on the Old Decatur Road, between Paulding and Tillman Roads. Private. Founded 1912. Basically Russian Jews. There is a section of Lindenwood Cemetery that has a Jewish section, basically German Jews. [September 2005]
