Surrounded by a continuous fence with a gate that locks, the 56-acre cemetery dates from 1859 and has more than 5,000 gravestones made of marble, granite, limestone, sandstone and slate in many sizes as of 1998. Some have portraits on stones and metal fences around graves. Inscriptions on tombstones are in English. The cemetery is visited frequently.
