Chepa is located in Zakarpatskaya at 48�_23�_, 14 km from Vinogradov and 50 km from Mukachevo. The cemetery is located at the road to Chernotisov, East. Present town population is 1,000-5,000 with no Jews.

The earliest known Jewish community was 19th century. 1926 Jewish population (census) was 150. Effecting the Jewish Community were 1918 Zakarpat'ye transfer to Czech and 1944 deportation of Jews to the death camp. The Jewish cemetery dates from the 19th century with last known Jewish burial 1942. Jewish community was Hasidic. No other towns or villages used this unlandmarked cemetery. The isolated suburban agricultural flat land has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all. No wall, fence, or gate surrounds. 101 to 500 common tombstones, most in original location with less than 25% toppled or broken, date from the 19th to 20th century. Location of any removed stones is unknown. The cemetery has no special sections or known mass graves. The municipality owns property now used for Jewish cemetery only. Properties adjacent are agricultural. The cemetery boundaries are unchanged since 1939. Rarely, local residents visit. The cemetery was vandalized during World War II. There is no maintenance. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures. Vegetation overgrowth is a seasonal problem, preventing access. Moderate threat: uncontrolled access and vegetation. Slight threat: weather erosion, pollution and vandalism.
