Makeevka is located in Donetskaya, 25 km from Donetsk. The cemetery is located at v. Osipenko. Present town population is over 100,000 with 1,001 - 10,000 Jews.
1939 Jewish population (census) was 8000. The last known Jewish burial was 1994. No other towns or villages used this cemetery. The suburban hillside, part of a municipal cemetery, has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all. "Other" surrounds the cemetery.
