MECHYSHCHIV: Ternepol Oblast.
Alternate names: Mechishchev, Mieczyszczow. Also see BEREZHANY. Population in 1900: 1906 (116 Jews), in 1939: 2970 (50 Jews). Mechyshchiv is one of the most ancient villages in the district and is located in the hilly area 15 km southwest of Berzehany.
