Three places in Poland bear the name Marki. Jewish settlement in Marki likely was in the 17th century. Jews lived primarily in an area called Pustelnika. Marki was subordinate to the Jewish community in Brodnia. In 1826 the first synagogue was built intersection of the current streets and Piłsudskiego Rejtana marecką. This building existed until the beginning of the 20th century when the Pustelniku built a new brick synagogue on Pustelnicki. This was bombed by the Luftwaffe in September 1939. [June 2009]
CEMETERY: No graves or written sources exist. The cemetery was established before the outbreak of WWII at the end of the current ulica Sienkiewicza. Probably very few burials were made here. [June 2009]
