49°34′9″N 7°51′14″E, 24 miles WSW of Worms. Winnweiler is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate on the upper course of the river Alsenz, approx. 15 km (9.3 mi) NEof Kaiserslautern. Winnweiler is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Winnweiler. The settlement in Rhenish Franconia was first mentioned in a 891 deed. Jewish population: 40 (1804), 165 (1848), 81 (1900), 30 (1932). The 1901 synagogue was destroyed on Kristalnacht. In October 1940, the remaining nine Jews were sent to Gurs camp. 3 survived.
