Located among vineyards, stone wall with niches, with older and newer sections. Memorial for WW I dead. Memorial plaque 1933-45. Renovated after destruction in (1938?). Cemetery is on outskirts of the village, and serves the Jewish communities of Kitzingen and Mainstockheim. It is somewhat difficult to find. A small lane through the surrounding vineyards leads up to it. It is thought to be over 500 years old. All dead buried here, from 1822 onwards until 1875, were recorded in the "Matrikel" book of the Jewish community of Roedelsee, kept by the Catholic rectory of the village. The gates of the cemetery are locked and the key is kept by the mayor. In reasonable condition, although rather overgrown. [UPDATE] From a visit in 2004: "The Rödelsee cemetery is located 1 km south of the village. Access is by farm roads. It is clearly visible on Google Maps (a green rectangle; you have to zoom in quite a bit - or turn on the photos - for the roads to show up). When you turn on the satellite photos, it is clearly a cemetery.
When we visited, a key was available from the local grocery store (labeled Rödelseer Markt on the map, at Zehntgasse 1, parking on the south side of the store). They ask a 10 Euro deposit, and when we were there, they had us note that the store would close at 6pm. There may be keys elsewhere." Source: This email address is being protected from spambots.
