v.Ushomir is located in Zhitomirskaya, 18km from Korosten. Present town population is 1,000-5,000 with fewer than 10 Jews.

The earliest known Jewish community in this town was 1847. 1926 Jewish population (census) was 1820. The last known Hasidic burial was 1994. Cholovka (10km away) used this unlandmarked cemetery. The cemetery location is rural (agricultural) flat land, separate but near other cemeteries, has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all. A broken fence with no gate surrounds the cemetery. 101 to 500 stones, most in original location with 50%-75% toppled or broken, date from 1919. Location of any removed stones is unknown. Some tombstones have portraits on stones and/or metal fences around graves. The cemetery contains no known mass graves. The cemetery property is now used for Jewish cemetery only. Properties adjacent are agricultural, residential and other. The cemetery boundaries have not changed since 1939. Rarely, local residents visit. The cemetery was vandalized during World War II and occasionally in the last ten years. Local/municipal authorities fixed wall in 1970s. There is no maintenance now. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures. Vegetation overgrowth is a constant problem, damaging stones. Serious threat: uncontrolled access, pollution, vegetation and vandalism. Slight threat: weather erosion and proposed nearby development.
