Hamlet Semihatki is located in Nikolaevskaya, 22 km from Domanevka and 180 km from Odessa. The mass grave is located in small hollow on southeast part of village. Present town population is under 1,000 with no Jews.

     The earliest known Jewish community was 1744, (Odessa 1939 Jewish population (census) was 153242). Effected Jewish Community: 1881 pogrom, 1905 pogrom, 1920 Community organization was destroyed. Mendem-Moyhes Sforim and V. Zhabotinskiy lived here. The Hasidic Jewish mass grave was dug in 1941. Odessa (180km away) and Bessarabia Jews were murdered at this unlandmarked mass grave. The r isolated ural (agricultural) flat land has signs or plaques in Ukrainian mentioning the Holocaust. Reached by crossing public collective farm field, access is open to all. A broken fence with no gate surrounds the mass grave. One 1948 stone is in all original location. No stones were removed. The mass grave has no special sections. The site contains marked mass graves. Municipality owns the site now used for mass burial site. Adjacent properties are agricultural. The mass grave boundaries is larger now than 1939. Organized individual tours and local residents visit occasionally. This mass grave never was vandalized. Local/municipal authorities erected stone in 1948. There is no maintenance. Within the limits of the mass grave are no structures. Vegetation overgrowth is a seasonal problem, preventing access. Moderate threat: uncontrolled access and vegetation. Slight threat: weather erosion, pollution and vandalism.
