Golyatin is located in Zakarpatskaya at 49º12 24º27, 170 km from Mukachevo. The cemetery is located at 400m north of town center. Present town population is 1,000-5,000 with no Jews.

The earliest known Jewish community was 19th century. 1926 Jewish population (census) was 70. 1918, Zakarpat'ye was transferred to the Czech. In 1944 was Jews deported to death camp. The last known Hasidic Jewish burial was 1942. No other towns or villages used this unlandmarked isolated and wooded suburban hillside with no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all. No wall, fence, or gate surrounds site. 21 to 100 common tombstones, most in original location with more than 75% toppled or broken, date from the 19th century. Location of any removed stones is unknown. The cemetery has no special sections or known mass graves. The municipality owns the property used for Jewish cemetery only. Adjacent properties are agricultural and residential. The cemetery boundaries are unchanged since 1939. Local residents visit rarely. The cemetery was vandalized during World War II. There is no maintenance. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures. Vegetation overgrowth is a seasonal problem, preventing access. Water drainage is a seasonal problem. Moderate threat: uncontrolled access, vegetation and vandalism. Slight threat: weather erosion, pollution, existing and proposed nearby development.
