Marynowo is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Sejny within Sejny powiat, Podlaskie Voivodeship in NE Poland close to the border with Lithuania, 5 km (3 mi) SW of Sejny and 110 km (68 mi) N of the regional capital Białystok. The village had a 2008 population of 120. photos. [June 2009]

Alternate name: Sejny. Marynowois located in Suwalskie at 54º06 23º20, 30 km from Suwalki. Cemetery location: 1.2 km S of synagogue in Sejny at the W side of road to Augustow. Present town population is under 1,000 without Jews.

The earliest known Jewish community in town was 1787, when they received permission to settle. 1927 Jewish population was 1,000. The Jewish cemetery was established in 1830's(?).Landmarked: (534/975/d/93/z 2 Dec 1993). The isolated suburban flat land and hillside has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all without wall or gate. The size of the cemetery before WWII and now is 1.4 hectares. 20-100 gravestones in the cemetery, 1-20 not in original locations with less than 25% toppled or broken, date from 19th-20th century. The granite and sandstone flat shaped stones or finely smoothed and inscribed stones have Hebrew inscriptions. No mass graves. The cemetery property is used as a Jewish cemetery only. Properties adjacent are agricultural and residential. Private visitors occasionally visit. The cemetery was vandalized during WWII. No maintenance, but regional authorities carried out restoration. [sic] There are no structures. Vegetation is a moderate threat.
