Izbica Kujawska is a town in central Poland with 2,808 inhabitants in 2004 situated in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (since 1999), having previously been in Włocławek Voivodeship (1975-1998). Synagogue and more photos. First documented in 1419, the town was granted Magdeburg Law rights in 1540 and developed meaningful trade and commerce. Eventually, the town was inhabitated primarily by Jews. In 1827 the 51 houses were inhabited by 407 Jews, the total population. [May 2009]
