53°26′N 20°2′E Alternate names: Gilgenburg [Ger], Gilgė [Lith]; located in Olsztyn in E Prussia, 85 miles SE of Gdańsk (Danzig), 30 miles SW of Olsztyn (Allenstein). A medieval village and the seat of a gmina (municipality) in Ostróda County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northern Poland, despite being on the railway from Osterode (Ostróda) to Soldau (Działdowo), Dabrowno remained a tiny town of about 1,000 residents. Słownik Geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego (1880-1902), I, p. 944: "Dąbrówno". After the separation of Działdowo from East Prussia, Dąbrówno was cut off from its regional connections. Dabrowno was heavily damaged during World War II and was transferred from Germany to Poland in 1945. The settlement was renamed Dąbrówno.
