Alternate names: Szegi [Hun], Bodrogszegi. 48°12' N, 21°23' E, in NE Hungary, 19 miles SW of Sátoraljaújhely, 28 miles ENE of Miskolc. 1930 Jewish population: 72. Encyclopedia of Jewish Life (2001), p. 1278: "Szegi" .JewishGen Hungary SIG. At the end of May 1944, the Jews were deported to Auschwitz via Satoraljaujhely.Inhabited as early as the 1200's, today the village has 338 inhabitants and has the largest cellar of East- Europe (Tokaj).
