At 50°11′19″N 12°45′05″E, Loket (German: Elbogen) is a town of some 3,000 inhabitants in the Sokolov district in the Karlovy Vary region. Loket means "elbow" in English because the town centre is surrounded on three sides by the Ohře River with the river in a shape similar to that of an elbow. The landmarked town center features Loket Castle, a 12th century Gothic castle.The town hosts an annual opera festival in an open air amphitheatre with the castle as a backdrop and also hosts the Czech Motocross Grand Prix.
