In 1992, Bernard R. Moskowitz visited Luban and the one living Jew in town. He visited the mass grave and the Jewish cemetery. This cemetery was desecrated and destroyed by German tanks. He saw some twenty to thirty graves with gravestones, all post-World War II. The Jewish community numbered 1,500 out of a town with a population of 3,000 in 1940. Lyuban Jewish cemetery has two corners with protected gravestones. One corner dates from WW1 with Yiddish/Hebrew inscriptions and the second corner from post-WW2 in Belarussian and Yiddish.
