The municipal cemetery established in 1866 is still on use today. Cemetery, chapels, lodges and outbuildings are owned by Sefton Council Leisure and Tourism Department. The Jewish section of the cemetery is self-contained and is managed through a stewardship arrangement with Southport Hebrew Congregation at 3 Arnside Rd, Southport, Merseyside PR9 0QX. Phone:+44 1704 532964. The Jewish Section of the Cemetery was established in 1894 and consists of two plots: a small Old Section on Cemetery Road which was closed in 1938; and a larger New Section, on Duke Street, which is still in use. Source: David Shulman, Webmaster JCR-UK [December 2016]
