  • Gunghalin Cemetery: Jewish Section and also R.S.L. (Returned Services League) Plot. The principal cemetery for Canberra is extensively landscaped and a large lake and many bird species help create a tranquil and peaceful environment. Opened in 1979, the cemetery contains a large lake set in a mature landscape.   • Woden Cemetery: Opened in 1936 and closed in 1979. The Cemetery was re-opened in March 1999. The cemetery is accessible all year round with the gates opened until dark. Woden Cemetery is within easy walking distance from the Woden Bus Interchange. Car parking off Yamba Drive is available. Burial sites are available in all areas of the cemetery and rhododendron and azalea gardens are available for placing ashes. An enclosed mausoleum for burial in above ground vaults was completed in 2001. Please contact the Trust for more information about the mausoleum. December 2004]
