Congregation B'nai Israel/JCC of Petaluma is located near the downtown section of the town. B'nai Israel was founded around 1909, but has roots dating to 1864 and follows Conservative ritual. - Used by Congregation B'nai Israel; 740 Western Avenue, Petaluma, CA 94952 (707-762-0340). B'nai Israel Cemetery was established in 1871 by the Jewish population of Petaluma. The cemetery entrance is located on Magnolia Avenue, but the wrought-iron gates are usually locked. To enter the cemetery, continue a short distance down Magnolia Avenue until you reach the entrance to Cypress Hills Memorial Park. Drive to the office and chapel; on the right will be B'nai Israel Cemetery. The grounds of the cemetery are well kept and many of the tombstones are very beautiful. Even the oldest ones are very well preserved and legible.'
