- Lakeside Cemetery is on the western edge of historic Folsom. Now a section of Lakeside Cemetery, what was once the Jewish Cemetery is at western edge of Lakeside Cemetery, across the road from the mausoleum building. Lakeside was established in 1861, with the earliest burial in 1862. The Hebrew Benevolent Society Jeshuath Israel originally established the Jewish cemetery. Note: The only Jewish family plot left intact is the Jacob Hyman family plot with three graves and a large monument. Lakeside Cemetery is about 9 acres with the old Jewish cemetery about one-third acre with 36 existing tombstones and another estimated dozen burials without headstones. While most inscriptions on the tombstones can still be read, the Jewish cemetery has not been particularly maintained. Ornamentation and the cemetery border have been removed. The Judah Magnes Museum in Berkeley is another possible source of information on this cemetery.
