Baigneux was called Baigneux-les-Juifs and is a commune in arrondisement of Montbard. Capital of a canton, there were Jewish inhabitants there during the Middle Ages. A secret inquiry was made between 1306 and 1308 into the debts due to the Jews. A century later, Jews were still in the community, but they were expelled from the city by Jean le Grand under the orders of the duke Philippe in 1420. [January 2008]
