The earliest known Jewish community was perhaps 16th century but definitely by 1765. 1921 Jewish population was 2910 (53.1%). The cemetery was established perhaps in the 16th century but definitely by 1765 with last known Orthodox or Conservative Jewish burial 1942. The villages of Secemin and Kurzelow, 20-30 km away, also used this unlandmarked cemetery. The isolated suburban flat land has no sign or marker. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all with no wall, fence, or gate. Approximate size of the cemetery before the war and now is 1 hectare OR smaller than in 1939 as a result of agriculture. [Sic] 1-20 limestone with Polish inscriptions stones with less than 25% toppled or broken are in situ. The cemetery contains no known mass graves but has special memorial monuments to Holocaust victims. The municipality presently owns the property used for a Jewish cemetery only. Adjacent property is residential. Private individuals rarely visit the cemetery. The cemetery was vandalized during World War II but no vandalism in the past 10 years with no maintenance or care. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures. Security, vandalism, and incompatible development are moderate threats; weather erosion and vegetation are slight threats.
