Ciepielów is a village in southern part of the Mazovian Voivodeship and capital of a gmina in the powiat of Lipsko on the Iłżanka River near Radom. 1998 population: approximately 750. On September 8, 1939, the village of Dąbrowa (near Ciepielów) was the site of a mass murder of approximately 300 Polish prisoners of war by Wehrmacht troops. In December 1941, a small ghetto was established in Ciepielów; in October 1942 all of them (approximately 600) were sent to gas chambers at Treblinka. The emptied ghetto was then occupied by an SS unit that organized further mass executions of approximately 500 Poles. photos of ruined synagogue. [April 2009]

1921 Jewish population was 339 or 34.7%. The earliest Jewish community dates from 1786. The unlandmarked Orthodox and Conservative Jewish cemetery was established during the 18th century with last known Jewish burial in 1942. The isolated urban flat land is reached by turning directly off a public road with no sign or marker. The area of the cemetery is about. 24 sq. hectares. No wall, fence or gate does surrounds the site. Access is open to all. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures or visible gravestones. The location of removed stones is unknown. The municipality owns property located in a residential area, rarely visited and now used for industrial purposes. The cemetery was not vandalized during World War II or in the last ten years. No maintenance or care.
