Coat of arms of Rydzyna51°47' N 16°39' E, 187.6 miles W of Warszawa. The town of Rydzyna was the seat of king Stanisław Leszczyński and is known as "the pearl of the Polish baroque". In the southern part of Wielkopolska Province, 10 km S of Leszno in Leszno powiat on main Poznań-Wrocław Highway E5, the town's population was 2446 in 2006. Gmina Rydzyna is an urban-rural administrative district that includes the villages and settlements of Augustowo, Dąbcze, Jabłonna, Junoszyn, Kaczkowo, Kłoda, Lasotki, Maruszewo, Moraczewo, Nowawieś, Nowy Świat, Pomykowo, Przybina, Robczysko, Rojęczyn, Tarnowałąka, Tworzanice and Tworzanki. Rydzyna was located only 5 miles from the German frontier. Within hours of the outbreak of World War II, Rydzyna was occupied by German troops. [June 2009]
