Jewish population: 1,920 (in 1890). CEMETERY: The cemetery existed by the end of the 18th century. The land for the cemetery was a gift from the town owners on which a synagogue, a Betit Midrash, and a mikvah also were built. Mass graves exist. photo. [August 2005]
