TRANSLATION OF RUSSIAN SITE with photos: The first documented evidence of Skalat dates from 1512. In 1912 the property belonged to Skalat Jewish landlord named Rosenstock. After the German invasion of July 5, 1941 local Ukrainians killed 560 Jews. "Soviet troops withdrew from Skalat on July 3, and early in the morning on Saturday, July 5, in German soldiers entered the city of SS brigade. On the same day, a group of local residents, led by a priest of the Greek Catholic Church Onuferko visited the German authorities. priest in this pre-war times was known as yudofilom and even fluent in Yiddish. requested the delegation was to allow Jewish pogrom during the day. German general idea approved, but gave a total of eight hours. Pogrom began on 6 July at 11:00 am and lasted until the evening. 560 Jews were murdered. The Nazi government closed all local Jews in the ghetto. Deliveries began to the Belzec extermination camp, the first at the end of August 1942,then as follows: October 21, 1942 - 3000, November 9, 1942 - to 1100. On 7 April 1943, the Nazis killed 700 residents of the ghetto, June 9 - 600, until June 30 - 200 other prisoners who remained in the labor camp. During the Nazi occupation, dead at the hands of Ukrainian nationalists also were about 40 Poles. See website for photos.
