"On the night of July 14-15, an act of vandalism occurred in the Jewish section of the city cemetery in Arzamas (Nizhnii Novgorod region). Over 30 Jewish graves were defaced. It should be noted that the pogrom in the cemetery took place on the eve of the elections for the head of the administration of the Nizhnii Novgorod region (July 15) and was not registered by law enforcement authorities until the voting was completed." Source 2001.
