Jewish population: 160 (1886), 128 (1923).

CEMETERY: A memorial exists on the site of the old cemetery. [March 2009]

MASS GRAVES: Jews from the towns of Ushpol (Uzpaliai), Avanaste, Inturik (Inturke), Dabeik (Dabeikiai), Vizhun (Vyzounos), Toragin (Tauragenai), Maliat (Moletai), Kuktishok (Kutkiskes), Radeik (Radeikiai), Shkumian (Skiemonys) were murdered at Rashe forest, Rashe forest, 2 km north of Utyan; time-July 31, 1941; August 8, and August 29.
